这些动词均有“陪同，伴随”之意。
1. accompany 既可指人也可指物。用于人时，侧重关系紧密或同时发生。如：
He prepared to silently accompany her. 他准备默默地陪伴着她。
Once he made bold to ask her to accompany him to a party. 有一次他鼓起勇气要求她陪他去参加一个晚会。
I was unable to accept your invitation, having promised to accompany my mother to the concert. 我因已答应陪我母亲赴音乐会而不能接受你的邀请。
2. conduct 无论用于人或物均指引导带领。如：
The class was conducted in English. 课是用英语上的。
He conducted a company of tourists. 他领着一批旅游的人。
Negotiations were conducted by an exchange of notes. 谈判以交换照会的方式进行。
3. attend 侧重主从关系，即下级对上级，学生对老师等，或表恭、服侍。如：
Martin himself attended the sick moll. 马丁自己来照顾这个病人。
4. escort 通常指用车或人在陆上伴随、护送，其目的是保护或出于礼节。如：
A group of soldiers escorted the President. 一队士兵护卫着总统。
The queen was escorted by the directors as she toured the factory. 女王由董事们陪同参观了工厂。
