centre与middle的区别
区别一
表示立体事物的中心(如球心等)，一般只用centre，而不能用middle。如：
the centre of the ball 球心
区别二
centre 多指物体的正中心，而 middle 则指中间或中部，因而它表示的位置不如 centre 精确。比较：
the centre of the room 房间的正中央
the middle of the room 房间的中间(不一定在正中间)
the centre of London 伦敦的市中心
the middle of England 英格兰的中部
由于“圆心”指的总是圆的正中心，所以总是要用 centre。如：
the centre of the circle 圆心
区别三
由于 centre 表示的位置比较准确，所以若要表示“在……的中心”，其前可用介词不仅可用 in, 也可用 at；而 middle 前的介词则通常是 in。如：
There is a fountain at [in] the centre of the park. 公园中央有一个喷泉。
He’s standing in the middle of the room. 他站在房间的中间。
区别四
表示学术、工业、商业等比喻用法中的“中心”，通常只能用centre, 而不能用 middle。如：
Beijing is the political, economic and cultural centre of China. 北京是中国政治、经济和文化的中心。
London is one of the financial centres of the world. 伦敦是世界金融中心之一。
用于引申义表示使人感兴趣的中心等，也用 centre。如：
Children like to be the centre of attention. 小孩喜欢引人注意。
区别五
centre 只用于空间，而 middle 既可以用于空间，也可以用于时间或活动等。如：
in the middle of September 九月中旬
in the middle of dinner 正在吃饭
