这两个字的拼法虽然不同，但读音却完全相同，都读/swi: t/，因此，它们是一对同音异义词（homonym）。
Sweet可以用作名词和形容词。作名词时常用复数；英国人用sweets，美国人用candies。意思是“甜品”、“糖果”。
People like to have sweets as the dessert．

作形容词时，其意为“甜蜜的”、“芳香的”。例：
