China will strive to improve the country's underdeveloped  water conservancy works over the next five to 10 years, said the document issued jointly by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, China's cabinet.

　　中共中央委员会和国务院联合下发通知指出，我国将在未来5至10年内改进尚不完善的蓄水工程。

　　文中的water conservancy works就是指“蓄水工程”，大家熟悉的reservoir（水库）就是蓄水工程之一。由于今冬降水缺乏，目前我国很多省份遭遇旱情，成为drought-hit regions（受旱地区），面临water shortage（水资源短缺），在一些wheat-growing regions（小麦产区）尤为突出。

　　今后，我国还将继续控制annual water consumption（年用水量），改进water supplies（供水系统），完善flood control and drought relief systems（防洪抗旱体系），修建farmland irrigation projects（农田灌溉工程）。对旱情严重的地区，还将提供drought-relief equipment/ drought-fighting supplies（抗旱设备）。已修建的South-North Water Diversion Project (SNWD)（南水北调工程）就为缓解北方旱情出力不少。
