从北京市交通部门获悉，受新学年开学、中秋国庆双节等因素影响，9月将迎来全年“最堵月”。有9天将达到严重拥堵，其中5天高峰拥堵指数达9.0。
Beijing entered what has become its most congested month on Monday, as the now ubiquitous "school run" clogged the city thoroughfares on the first day of the new school term.
周一，新学期开学第一天，接送学生的车辆挤满了市内各个路口，北京迎来“最堵月”。
每年的9月都被交通部门称为“最堵月”（the most congested month），不只是因为这个月学校开学，接送学生的车辆增多，还因为传统的中秋节（Mid-Autumn Festival）和国庆节（National Day）假期一般都在这个月紧随而来，出门访友、购物以及旅游的人也普遍会增加。
既然是全年最堵月，我们就说一说英文中有关“堵车”的相关表达：traffic jam/congestion是最常见的说法，比如：We are held up in a traffic jam（我们遇上堵车了）；其他说法还有snarl-up、hold-up、traffic gridlock、heavy traffic或者clogged traffic等，如，They arrived late due to a motorway hold-up.
为了缓解道路交通压力，北京市呼吁市民尽量选择公共交通（public transport）出行，对私家车先后实行了车牌摇号（license-plate lottery）和尾号限行（traffic restrictions based on the last digit of license plate numbers）政策，另外，还考虑对车辆收取拥堵费（congestion fee）。
