　　易混词辨析与学习:1.yet／still／already 这三个词都可以用来谈与目前有关的正在进行的动作或事件。yet用来谈某事在预料之中；still用来谈某事正在进行，还未停止；already用来谈某事早已发生，或比应该发生的时间要早些。

　　①yet一般放在句末，用来谈预计要发生的事，只用在疑问句和否定句中。

　　Has Tom come yet?

　　汤姆已经来了吗?

　　The apples aren’t ripe yet．

　　苹果还没有成熟。

　　②still一般放在句子中间，可以用来说明过去开始的情况或动作仍在继续，特别是用来说明我们希望它早些停止，或因为它没有停止我们感到惊异。still常用于肯定句中。疑问句和否定旬也可以用。

　　It's still raining．

　　雨还在下。

　　l have been working on the problem for hours．but I still can’t solve it．

　　我已经忙这个问题几小时了，但还是没有解决。

　　Is she still here?

　　她还在这里吗?

　　③already一般与动词连用，放在句子中间，为了强调也可以放在句末。already用来表示某事发生的时间比预计的或应该发生的时间要早。

　　She has already finished her homework．

　　她已经完成了作业。

　　I've spent all my money already．

　　我已经把我的钱全都花完了。

　　2.sometime／some time／sometimes

　　①sometime指“(将来或过去的)某个时间”。

　　Can I come and see you sometime?

　　我可以什么时候过来看看你吗?

　　New students will come to our school sometime next week．

　　新学员将于下周某时来校。

　　②some time是名词短语，意为“一段时间”。

　　He spent some time working in the garden every day．

　　他每天都花些时间在园子里干活。

　　Foreigners take some time to adjust to our way of life．

　　外国人要花一些时间才能适应我们的生活方式。

　　③sometimes意为“有时”。

　　Usually she goes to school by bike but sometimes she goes to school by bus．

　　她经常骑自行车上学但有时候也坐公交车上学。

　　Lions sometimes hunt alone．

　　狮子有时单独猎食。

　　3.almost／most／mostly

　　①almost是“几乎”的意思。

　　She is almost blind．

　　她几乎失明了。

　　He has a good eye for detail and notices almost everything．

　　他明察秋毫，几乎一切事情都注意到了。

　　②most用作副词时，与形容词、副词及动词连用，表示程度，意思是“最，非常”。

　　Which question do you think is the most difficult?

　　你觉得哪个问题最难?

　　The President himself won the most votes．

　　总统本人获得最多选票。

　　③mostly作副词指“多半，大部分，主要地”。

　　She uses her car mostly for driving to work．

　　她的汽车主要用于上下班。

　　These dresses are mostly made from artificial fabrics．

　　这些衣服大多是由人造纤维布制的。

　　4.late／lately

　　①late作副词时，作“迟、晚”讲，指比规定时间晚到、迟到，或比通常习惯到达的时间迟到或晚到。

　　He got up very late this morning．

　　他今天早上起得很晚。

　　What do you mean by coming home so late?

　　你怎么竟敢这么晚才回家?

　　②lately意为“最近，不久以前”可与一般过去时或现在完成时(多见于否定句和疑问句)，一般现在时或现在完成时(肯定句)连用。

　　Have you talked to her lately?

　　你最近有没有跟她谈过?

　　The market has been in poor shape lately．

　　近来市场情况不好。

　　5.later／latter／latest

　　①later除了作为late的比较级形式t；t夕b，还可单独作为副词使用，意为“后来，以后”。

　　Don’t rush into marriage；you might regret it later．

　　不要匆匆忙忙结婚，不然你以后也许要后悔的。

　　Ten minutes later，some of runners in the race began to lag．

　　10分钟后，有些参赛的人开始落后了。

　　②latter指前面刚提到的两个人，两件事，两个东西或两种事物中的“第二个，第二类，后者”，可指单数也可以指复数。

　　Of the two choices，I prefer the latter．

　　在两者中选择，我要后者。

　　This latter point is of great importance．

　　这后一个论点是非常重要的。

　　③latest除了作为late的最高级表示“最晚的”，还有“最近的，最新的”的意思。

　　Latest reports say another five people have been killed．

　　最新报道称又有5人被害。

　　You can thank the government for the latest rise in oil prices

　　最近的这次油价上涨要怪政府。
