　　1. Lame duck 行将卸任的官员，“跛鸭”

　　As a lame duck President, Mr.Clinton passed the bills in favor of his partners.

　　克林顿总统在卸任前，通过了许多对他朋友有利的议案。

　　释义：原意为跛鸭，引申为行将卸任的政治家。源于一些议员在卸任前，总是不负责地通过一些对自己有利的法案。1934年，美国国会通过“Lame Duck Amendment”（跛鸭修正案），旨在制止这种恶习。
 

　　2. Last straw 忍无可忍的事情，终于无法忍受的事

　　I'm ok with your calling me names but it's the last straw when you bad mouth my mom.

　　我可以容忍你骂我，但我不能容忍你说我妈的坏话。

　　释义：源于俗语 the last straw that breaks the camel's back.意思是“最后那根压断骆驼背后的稻草，正是这根稻草超过了驼背的承受极限。
