英语新闻词汇：（43）＂指定日＂用英语怎么说

　　上海世博会的指定日共17天，包括2010年“五一”假期(5月1日－5月3日)、“十一”假期(10月1日－10月7日)、上海世博会闭幕前一周(10月25日－10月31日)。

　　The Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination reminds visitors that May 1-3 are designated days. Only visitors with a ticket valid for one or more of these three days can enter the Expo Garden. Those with standard day tickets will be denied entry.

　　上海世博会事务协调局提醒游客，五月一日至三日是世博指定日，只有持指定日门票方可入园，持平日普通票的游客将不能入园参观。

　　上文中designated day就是“指定日”。designate有“指派、委任”的意思，例如：He has been designated Culture Minister.他被任命为文化部长。

　　standard day tickets则是我们所说的“平日票”；standard这里作为形容词，除了表示“一般的”。还可以表示“优秀的，一流的”，比如standard English，标准英语；此外我们也可以说the Queen's English。
