英语新闻词汇：“你有空吗”用英语怎么说？

今天呢，我们就讲讲英语中的“有空”该怎么说。想必大多数人第一时间想到的是Are you free？，这个表达没什么毛病，除了有一点点老套。其实，老外问别人“你有空吗”的地道表达有很多，现在就来和大家分享。

Do you have a minute?

 

minute在英语中有“分钟；片刻”的意思，所以“a minute”既可以在特定的语境下理解为“一分钟”，也可以理解为“（笼统的）一段时间”，所以问别人“你有空吗”就可以像标题里那样说。

另外，助动词Do也可以省略，直接说成You have a minute?

Are you available?

 

大家都知道available的意思是“可利用的，可获得的，可找到的”，但它也可以表示“（人）有空，有时间”，下面是它的英英释义。

 

Available: Someone who is available is not busy and is therefore free to talk to you or to do a particular task.  有空的，有时间的

 

Mr. Leach is on holiday and was not available for comment.

利奇先生在休假，没空作评论。

 

I'm available next Thursday if you want to meet then.

Can you spare some time?

 

众所周知，spare time是“业余时间”的意思，其中spare是当作形容词使用。当然，spare作动词来讲有“匀出，抽出”的意思，所以可以使用Can you spare some time？问别人“你有空吗？，你有时间吗？”

 

A：Can you spare some time to go shopping with me?

A：你有空和我一起去购物吗？

 

B：Sorry, I'm afraid I can't.

B：抱歉，我恐怕没空。

When do you have time off?

 

首先，have time off是个固定搭配，意思是“休息，有空，放假”，所以When do you have time off？就是问别人“你什么时候有时间，你啥时候有空？”，是不是很容易记住呢？

 

When do you have time off? I will give a lecture in your university next week and I hope you can be part of it.

你啥时候有空？我下周在你们学校有个讲座，我希望你能出席。

When will you get around to sth?

 

这是个固定的表达方式，get around to (doing) sth的意思是“抽时间做某事”，这里的get around就相当于spare time，这样就很容易理解啦。

 

A: When will you get around to travel?

A: 你什么时候有空去旅行？

 

B: Maybe next weekend.

B: 可能下周吧。

 

I said I would write to you, but as usual I never got around to it.

When do you find time to do sth?

 

与get around和spare time一样，find time也是“抽出时间、匀出时间”的意思，属于同义表达。

 

When do you find time to talk to her? She is waiting for your reply.
