英语新闻词汇：“年会” 用英语怎么说？

年会的英语怎么说呢？

 

Year Meeting？

 

这是典型的中式思维，

 

直接把年和会拆开来翻译是不对的。

 

“年会”正确的说法应该是

 

 

 

Year End Party

 

 

 

说是年会，

 

但其实严格意义上讲

 

这并不是一场会议meeting

 

大多数公司都会办得像一个聚会party

 

 

 

有人可能会提出 annual party 的说法，

 

而且不少大公司的英文翻译也确实是 annual party

 

annual /ˈæn.ju.əl/ adj.

 

happening once every year

一年一度的；每年的

虽然年会确实是一年开一次

 

但是annual并不能准确表达出来

 

我们所说的年会一般都在

 

年终，年尾

 

而annual只告诉了你一年一次，

 

并没有说一年当中的哪个时候

 

可以是每年六月，

 

也可以是每年七月

 

并不固定在每年的结尾

 

而

 

Year End Party

 

年终聚会

 

Year-End很明显

 

就是一年的结尾，年终岁末。

 

年会的举办时间是在年末，

 

用Year-End Party就很恰当了。

 

 

 

例：

 

Are we going to have award ceremony at the Year- End-Party? 

 

我们年终宴会上会有颁奖仪式吗？

 

 

三个人就可以办一个party，

 

但是有些大型的公司，

 

把年会办得很有仪式感

 

甚至会把年会办成更大规模的：

 

Gala

庆典、盛会

 /ˈɡɑː.lə/

 

a special public occasion at which there is a lot of entertainment, usually in the form of different types of performances

（通常指包括很多表演节目的）庆典，盛会，演出

比如说

 

 Spring festival gala 春晚

 

Gala对服装没有严格的要求，

 

但如果是参加ball就必须穿着正式的礼服：

 

Ball

舞会

 

a large formal occasion where people dance

舞会

Ball gown: 舞会礼服

 

Tuxedo: 燕尾服
