　　1. A tough nut hard to crack 棘手的事，难以说服的人

　　Finding money to open our new firm will be a tough nut hard to crack.

　　筹集开办公司的资金真是很棘手的事情。

　　释义：

　　crack: 砸开，撬开

　　直译是一个坚硬难以砸开的坚果，比喻难以应付的人或棘手的事。
 

　　2. Ace 表现优秀

　　John's the merit student in my class, because he always aces the test.

　　约翰是我们班的优秀生，因为他每次考试都得A。

　　疯狂联想：

　　扑克牌的“A”往往成为制胜的法宝。考试得“A”也同样霸道，所以下面这句话就不难理解了吧？
